First off, i’m using my sister’s account. I’m 18 & was on my Facebook page when my mum walked in. She started looking at it & (not for the first time) got disproportionately annoyed at the fact that it says “Studied at ***** University” instead of “Studying at ***** University”. I don’t put much stock in what’s on a person’s Facebook so I don’t really care (and don’t know how to change it) but she got REEALLY angry, and we started a huge 16-year-old-style fight over it. She said I’m portraying myself badly by saying I’m not studying and that I always try to make myself look bad to other people. She went on to tell me i hang around with “bad” people (I don’t) and that if I’m not happy living at home anymore then I’m not welcome there anymore. I don’t believe her – I think it was just said in anger, but I honestly can’t understand why an otherwise rational adult is putting so much store in a teenagers Facebook page’ She doesn’t use FB and I hardly even use mine.
