Accounting Online Study for Accounting Degree & Certification

Dear financial aid committee,

I appreciate having a chance to appeal to receive financial aid. In the previous summer I was enrolled in two classes where I attended every class and completed every assignment. I received this email from the financial aid office saying I did not meet the academic requirements for having getting financial aid. I quickly went over to look at my grades and I realized I did much worse than I anticipated. The mistake I made during the year were that I did not fill out the grading contracts, I also previously had a financial hold on my account preventing me from registering, so I missed the first week of class. I did not think I needed to fill out a grading contract, because I did not think I would perform poorly in my classes.

I was previously suspended from U of I because of my GPA. I could not come back to Champaign- Urbana for a full calendar year. When I applied to get back into school, I came into U of I during the Spring semester of 2011. While I always try to do my best in courses, anything can happen that can knock someone off their balance. Then while dealing, with it, I have not performed to my full potential. While enrolled in U of I in 2011, the financial aid I received covered the summer courses and the spring semester courses. This situation left me with little to no money left over for rent and groceries. While still applying for jobs, I was still going to class after only being able to have one meal a day. Even though I didn’t technically fail any classes, I did not reach the requirements for probation. I know that I will end with a strong finish if I can still get proper financial backing. Now if I were to get financial aid, I would have enough to cover this semester’s tuition, my rent, and groceries, then I would proudly be able to graduate in December.

This year is my last semester I’m eligible to take at the University of Illinois. Now I live in a place that lets me completely focus on my studies. I also understand that learning is something that happens with a book and a quiet place, and a classroom is where such learning gets reinforced. Also during this semester, I am working with my college to get tutored regularly with a counselor my college assigns to me. I have to meet with them once every two weeks and show them my grades and corrected papers. This is because I’m also on academic probation. I realize that I have not been a strong student in the past months but I have no choice but to make my last semester count. It is my fault that I was not aggressive enough in my classes to get the best grades. Since I am about to graduate, I also realize how important it is to be as prepared as possible for life after graduation. I want to learn about the area of organizational communication as possible so I can have a decent paying career after I graduate.

I revised this from a previous letter where it didn’t seem like I took any of the blame for not meeting the financial aid requirements. I….really did my best during summer classes, and I did not see myself getting bad grades at all, but, this is the truth. No more no less.
